This is the testimony of Gillian, who, as a young teenager, was already bored with life, but is now able to say what a difference becoming a Christian has made.
"I'm bored!" That's what I always said.
Well, what's wrong with wanting to enjoy yourself.
I tried all the usual things to have a good time and make life exciting - the disco, smoking, drinking, bunking off school. But the thing I enjoyed most was leaving my mark on bus shelters. Looking back, I'm not proud of that, but at the time it felt real good to see my name written all over the place.
A rebel at heart
I was a rebel at heart. I thought the world owed me a living. I was determined it wasn't going to con me into it's system.
I enjoyed going to pubs and pop concerts, but after the drink and excitement had worn off, life was boring again.
I left school and got a job, but I hated it. It was so boring. In fact life was a real drag most of the time. "Here I am", I thought to myself, "I'm 17, and fed up with life already, there's got to be more to life than this".
Around this time my mum had become a Christian through a friend she knows, and now I began to notice the difference it had made in her life.
I'd not taken much notice of her new Christian friends before, but now I started to notice that they had something I didn't have - Peace.
I was always ranting and raving about something - my job, people, life in general.
One day, two of my mum's Christian friends from church started to tell me about Jesus - that he died for me so that I could enjoy real life.
I thought about it and decided to give my life to Jesus, asking him to forgive me for living the way I had, and become my Saviour and Lord.
I became a Christian.
"Just think", I thought, "all the bad things I've ever done, God has forgiven me".
It was like a great weight fell off me and I felt free and at peace.
Life's not boring anymore!
There's so much more I could say - I'm married now with two children, happy, and knowing what life's all about. But the main thing is this - I know I made the right decision when I asked Jesus to take over my life.
But - what about you?
